Services
Sports massage is used to influence repair, recovery and injury prevention not only in the professional athlete but anybody who puts excess stress on their muscles on a day to day basis.
For example, someone who sits at a computer all day and ends up slumping over the keyboard will in time potentially end up with very tight and painful neck and shoulder muscles.
Sports massage treatment will help to relieve this problem and at Billericay Sports Therapy we use many different techniques, including the unique Be Activated method to help prevent it in the future.
Buteyko is a breathing re-education program with a series of breathing exercises that will restore normal breathing patterns.
Most people in todays modern world unknowingly suffer from breathing pattern disorder (BPD) and it is arguably the cause of many chronic health conditions.
BPD basically means 'over breathing' or more technically 'Hyperventilation Syndrome'.
By over breathing we cause changes to blood gas levels which then decreases oxygen delivery to the muscles and internal organs resulting in numerous health problems.
The Oxygen Advantage is a respiratory conditioning program that is ultimately designed to simulate high altitude training for sports people and athletes.
Some elite athletes have the privilege of being able to train in the mountains, at high altitude, but fortunately we can achieve the same effect with specific breath exercises.
Increase in Erythropoietin (EPO) production which will produce an increased number of red blood cells (legally).
At Billericay Sports Therapy we are a certified Oxygen Advantage practice, trained in person by Patrick McKeown, author of The Oxygen Advantage, and use the Oxygen Advantage methods on many sports people including top young amateur and professional athletes.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a relatively common condition which can cause pain, numbness and burning or tingling sensation into the hand and fingers.
Symptoms of CTS can vary.
The carpal tunnel is a small tunnel that runs from the bottom of your wrist to your lower palm.
Several tendons pass through the carpal tunnel.
The median nerve also passes through it.
The nerve and tendons are protected by a ridge of bone and ligaments.
In cases of Carpal tunnel syndrome, the space inside the tunnel shrinks, placing a compression and pressure on the median nerve.
Frozen Shoulder can be an extremely painful condition in which the shoulder is completely or partially restricted in all its movements.
Frozen shoulder often starts out of the blue.
It can however be associated with diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease and can also be seen in patients with scar tissue in their hands, a condition called Dupuytren's contracture.
It can also follow a mild injury to the shoulder.
The typical symptoms are pain, stiffness, and limitation in the range of movement of a shoulder.
