The Rackham Effect
My name is Jane Rackham and I have a sports / remedial massage therapy clinic in Cheltenham and Gloucester. I have been running this since 2003 and am a registered member of the FHT (International Council of Health, Fitness & Sports Therapists). As well as sports / remedial massage I specialise in myofascial release using the Rossiter System method.

I am privileged to say I am an advanced level 4 Rossiter coach and only 1 of 9 in the UK. Unlike basic Swedish massage this is a unique treatment to reduce muscle tension, promote flexibility and help prevent injury. Rossiter has developed a two-person stretching program that not only alleviates structural pain but can prevent its occurrence. Foam rolling is a form of Myofacial release that is perfect for anyone who participates in running, walking or any active sports.

These are a very important and unique part of the treatments that I offer. Even neck or shoulder problem will benefit from stretches involving the lower back/pelvis and hip area.

My name is Jane Rackham and I have a sports / remedial massage therapy clinic in Innsworth Gloucester.
I have been running my business since 2003 and am a registered member of the FHT (International Council of Health, Fitness & Sports Therapists).
As well as sports / remedial massage I specialise in myofascial release using the Rossiter System method.
I am privileged to say I am an advanced level 4 Rossiter coach and only 1 of 9 in the UK.
I also work closely with a network of other specialists including sports physiotherapy, osteopathy and acupuncture thus ensuring that following assessment you are, if necessary referred onto the most appropriate therapist to help you with your problem.
As we come to the end of Breast Cancer Awareness Month I would like to highlight the benefits of massage after surgery and radiotherapy.
Having experienced it at first hand I know it helped massively.
I trained in March this year with Susan Findlay on a 3 day Oncology Massage course which taught me so much more about the endless possibilities after a cancer diagnosis.
The most important part of treatment is finding a qualified therapist.
If you have a close friend, a loved one that's going through a tough time then the gift of a treatment could be well received especially in the knowledge of an experienced qualified therapist.
Not every scar need help but most scars that are causing pain, restriction can and do respond extremely well.
Did you know that it takes 18months for a scar to heal fully.
Most scars can be worked on after 10weeks and on much older scars.
ScarWork Therapy helps reduce pain, increase function, mobility and quality of life which has been effected by internal and external scars (regardless of the age of the scar).
The ScarWork method is a gentle, pain free treatment that encourages scar tissue to integrate with healthy surrounding tissue, encourages fluid exchange and hydration to the scar site.
It is a type of massage therapy which utilises deep tissue techniques, with the aim of reducing muscular tension, discomfort and pain.
A sports massage therapist will use a variety of deep tissue techniques throughout a treatment which involve longitudinal stripping, friction techniques, tapotement and muscle energy techniques such as PNF stretching, active movement and trigger point compression.
These benefits are largely the result of an increase in local blood circulation which helps to flush out chemical irritants and waste products which have stored up within the muscle.
The Rossiter System addresses pain at its cause, which is the body's connective tissue system.
Connective tissue is really quite simple to understand.
It is the stretchy, strong ligaments, tendons and broad, fascial coverings that connect every part in the body to all the other parts for head to toe.
It holds your body together, gives it shape and (when completely healthy and loose) gives it space.
When the connective tissue system is overworked, stressed, or injured, it naturally shortens and thickens, causing pain, stiffness, limited range of motion, poor sleep, heaviness and other symptoms.
