Rachel Carey
Welcome to this website giving you information about Massage and Healing provided by Rachel Carey, in Exeter, Devon. Over 25 years in practice, Rachel has developed a unique working method which combines four basic therapies with years of experience and focused intuition, to create individual treatments for the relief of pain and suffering. During your session, Rachel will discuss with you your issues and background as appropriate, before applying the techniques in a combination which is most helpful to your condition.

As people are diverse and different, sessions reflect this, and may range from a straightforward body massage for the relief of tension and pain held in the body, to a combination of massage, reflexology, conversation and bio-energy healing. Complex, long term conditions are usually treated with a variety of techniques, including where needed, dialogue between client and therapist, with each session changing according to the progress of the individual.

Many people choose Rachel Carey Therapies because they simply wish to heal.
Services
This is deep, rhythmic body massage carried out through clothes.
The original deep tissue massage, Tui Na (pronounced twee nah) is both deeply relaxing and invigorating, and may be seen as the Chinese equivalent to physiotherapy.
This massage feels unlike most western style massages as the techniques and movements have been evolved to send energy moving through your body, freeing up deep and long-held tension in the muscles and joints, relieving pain and enhancing your mood.
Tui Na massage has evolved over 5000 years, and is used in China alongside acupuncture and herbal medicine.
Reflexology is usually carried out on the feet, but the hands can also be used.
While you relax on a couch, with a blanket if desired, you will receive a deeply relaxing foot or hand massage.
Chinese acupressure points and other specific areas on the feet or hands are worked on, which correspond to the organs, glands and other parts of the body.
Weekly sessions are recommended for six weeks to address long-standing issues, though a single session is usually deeply relaxing.
It may also be helpful to combine reflexology treatments with Therapeutic oil massage or Tui Na, for a holistic healing experience.
What is Bi-Aura?
This therapy uses sweeping movements around the client's body, to clear and balance energy flow, rather like having a massage without direct physical contact.
Attention is paid to balancing the seven main energy centres of the body, known as chakras.
Bi-aura is also known as Bio-energy Healing, Bio-energy Therapy, or just Energy Healing.
It has its roots in both Indian and Chinese cultures, and was brought to the UK by the Bi-Aura Foundation.
At the first session, the therapist will discuss with you your reasons for seeking the therapy, and any particular issues you would like help with.
This type of massage is carried out directly onto the skin, using oil.
Swedish massage techniques are used together with acupressure and energy balancing techniques.
During oil massage, the client relaxes on a massage couch, with towels provided to ensure comfort and warmth.
Massaging directly onto the skin can feel particularly nurturing, providing the essential experience of touch which many of us lack in our daily life.
Therapeutic massage is normally carried out on the back, shoulders, neck, arms, legs, face, head, hands and feet, although each client's individual needs are taken into account and the massage may be varied to suit your particular wishes.
Energy Healing by phone is an alternative where clients are unable to attend for a session, or don't feel safe to do so.
The sessions use a combination of the therapist's healing abilities, together with guided self-help techniques.
Before Bi-aura I was suffering from a vague, lingering depression, which has evaporated, and I'm feeling happier.
Plus, I'm not drinking as much as usual.
