We are a family run Sports & Remedial Massage Clinic and Pilates Studio based in Upminster, Essex. Our clients range from sports people to sedentary workers and the elderly. Each session is tailored to the needs and requirements of the individual.
Some people seek help through Sports & Remedial Massage (otherwise known as Soft Tissue Therapy) or Pilates because they are in pain, but many also come in order to be proactive about their health - whether that be to improve posture, to aid in the prevention of injuries or for a general deep relaxation massage for stress relief.
Our Sports/Remedial Massage Therapist and all of our Pilates Teachers obtained their qualifications at the most highly regarded and respected training establishments (North London School of Sports Massage, Body Control Pilates, Stott Pilates). We regularly hold in house team training days, and also attend external Continual Professional Development (CPD) courses to further enhance our skills and knowledge and keep up to date with the latest research and developments, so you can be confident that you are in safe hands.

Services
Sports and Remedial Massage differs from other forms of massage as it covers the management, manipulation & rehabilitation of the soft tissues (muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia) of the body.
It uses a combination of traditional massage strokes and specialised techniques such as Soft Tissue Release, Neuromuscular and Muscle Energy Techniques to help lengthen and realign soft tissue fibers.
This in turn helps to maintain flexibility and ease of movement, thus encouraging better posture and more efficient use of the body which will promote injury recovery and also prevention.

Devised by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900's, it is a series of slow and controlled body conditioning exercises which target the deep postural muscles in order to build strength from within.
It relieves stress, builds core stability and strength, improves muscle elasticity and mobilises spinal and peripheral joints.
This can reduce the incidence of back & neck pain, which is why Pilates is often recommended by medical professionals.
The slow controlled approach to the exercises enables you to focus on the alignment, precision and quality of movement, thus re-training your body to move in safer, more efficient patterns of motion - invaluable for enjoying daily activities, injury recovery/prevention, sports performance, good posture and optimal health.

One-to-one's are ideal for beginners in order to learn the technique thoroughly before moving on to a class.
They are also ideal for those who would like to progress very quickly or those who have an injury, or who are Pregnant or Post Natal, or who would prefer a personalised programme.
It is also a good option for shift workers or those who are unable to commit to the group class times each week.
One-to-one sessions can be booked for either Matwork or for the larger apparatus (Reformer / Wunda Chair / Tower).

During World War I whilst working as an orderly in a hospital, Joseph Pilates helped bedbound patients to rehabilitate and strengthen their muscles against resistance by attaching springs to their hospital beds.
This lead to the development of the Reformer.
More recently made famous by celebrities and sports persons such as David Beckham, Kate Hudson, Andy Murray and Cameron Diaz, the Reformer is a popular choice of equipment not only for post injury/surgery rehabilitation and for pregnancy, but also for general fitness and strength.

The Ladder Barrel has ladder rungs with a barrel surface for stretching, core strengthening and flexibility exercises.
The barrel connects to the ladder by a sliding base that adjusts to accommodate different torso sizes and leg lengths.
The Wunda Chair is one of the most challenging pieces of Pilates apparatus and is great for strength building as well as stability and balance.
Originally designed to fit into the small New York city appartments where Joseph Pilates had his first Studio, the Wunda Chair could be found in sitting rooms doubling up as a chair to relax on as well as a piece of exercise equipment!
