Services
We provide a very unique combination of services here at Holywell Healthcare that cannot be found anywhere else in Derbyshire and the Peak District.
All our practitioners are highly qualified and experienced in their own field, enabling them to pinpoint the source of your discomfort and pain.
If the practitioner you initially visit believes that you would benefit more from one of our other services then they will refer you on to them.
We believe in an inclusive approach to treating our patients and will work as a team to get the right treatment for you.

Podiatrists (previously referred to as Chiropodists) are health care professionals who have been trained to assess, diagnose and treat conditions of the feet and lower limbs.
Podiatrists also prevent and correct deformity, keep people mobile and active, relieve pain and treat infections.
Podiatrists use a variety of treatments to help resolve your problems, including the prescription of orthoses.
We are proud to say we have one of the top Podiatrists in the field of Biomechanics here at Holywell Healthcare.

For some people cutting their toenails is a simple task that can be carried out at home.
However for others it can become necessary to get this done by a professional.
Regular visits to the podiatrist can keep your toenails at a healthy length, plus the podiatrist will spot any other foot issues you may develop.
The nail or nails have to be reduced so as to clear as much infection as possible.
The remaining nail or exposed nail bed then needs to be treated with a cream or spray so as to ensure that the new nail growth does not become infected as it passes over the nail bed.

The first thing to try at home is using an over the counter medication such as Bazuka or see your GP for similar.
These treatments are applied to the skin on a regular basis and then removed.
Repeat the treatment as often as you can, ideally this should be done daily.
Only reduce the number of treatments if the skin surrounding the verruca becomes painful or develops a blister.
This may need to be carried out for 4-6 weeks.
Then let the skin heal up and check for new growth.
If this does not seem to be making any difference, then it may be the time to see a Podiatrist as we have two other options to try.

Corns are small circles of thick skin that usually develop on the tops and sides of toes or on the sole of the foot.
However, they can occur anywhere.
They can develop on the feet, usually around the heel area or on the skin under the ball of the foot.
Calluses develop when the skin rubs against something, such as a bone, a shoe or the ground.
They often form over the ball of your foot because this area takes most of your weight when you walk.
Your podiatrist will not only recommend ways to relieve pain and get rid of the corn or callus, but can also help with isolating the cause and preventing reoccurring problems.
