Louisa Gatland Massage Therapy
Welcome to Louisa Gatland Massage Therapy, a professional and friendly sports and remedial massage therapy practice, based in Old Harlow. Massage therapy or soft tissue therapy is a hands-on treatment, which manipulates the body's soft tissues including muscles, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments and joints. It can help to treat discomfort caused by the stresses and strains of everyday life or work, dysfunction caused by over-used muscles, or chronic pain caused by an injury or ongoing condition.

Massage therapy is more than 'just a massage', and can help anyone of all ages and from all walks of life suffering with muscular aches and pains - not just people who play sport or exercise regularly. I use a range of soft tissue therapy techniques, depending on the specific need or condition, and tailor my treatments to suit each individual client.
Services
I am a Sports and Remedial Massage and Soft Tissue Therapist, providing a professional and friendly service, working from my home treatment room in Old Harlow.
I have a BTEC Level 5 qualification in Sports and Remedial Massage from the London School of Sports and Remedial Massage (LSSM) - the highest level qualification in this field available in the UK.
I am also a full member of the Institute of Sports and Remedial Massage (ISRM).
I have volunteered at major sporting events such as the London Marathon and the Hackney Half Marathon, and since running my own business I have provided pre and post-event massage at several local sporting events.
Massage therapy uses touch to relax, realign and repair your body - whether you are looking for a general deep tissue massage or treatment for a specific problem or injury.
A maintenance massage can help keep your body in good condition, whilst a sports/deep tissue massage can help you prepare for or recover from your favourite sport.
A range of soft tissue therapy techniques can be used to help keep your body in good functional order whether you visit on a regular or ad-hoc basis.
If you have a specific injury or musculoskeletal problem, then a tailored assessment, treatment and rehabilitation programme will be created, aimed at getting you pain and injury free as soon as possible.
Quite simply, anyone can benefit from massage and soft tissue therapy - not just sports people.
Whether you are a parent with young children, someone that has a manual or desk-based job who has pain from work-related posture, someone that has sustained an injury, or someone training for a sporting event.
This is not the aim of massage therapy!
At times it may feel uncomfortable if it is necessary to treat deeper areas of specific pain or tension, but feeling pain during the entire massage is a common misconception.
Thank you to Louisa for helping repair, and prepare my body through my marathon training.
I used to have calf problems.
Not any more!
I have just had another massage today, ready for Brighton Marathon Sunday, and have left her session with my legs feeling fresh and ready to go.
Great treatment, great chat, and great advice, in a relaxed environment, I highly recommend her.
I was in unbearable agony with my back and I saw Louisa yesterday.
I called Louisa explained my issue and she saw me within 1 hour.
