Susan Martin Soft Tissue Therapy
Using Soft Tissue Therapy, Sports Massage or Scarwork I can help in all of these cases by employing a range of hands-on techniques to treat the root cause of the problem. Holding the BTEC level 5 diploma in Soft Tissue Therapy along with further qualifications in Oncology and Pregnancy Massage, I am able to assess and treat you as well as offering rehabilitation and lifestyle advice.

I work with people from all walks of life including keen amateur athletes, anyone suffering from work related or postural issues and those who have pain and restricted movement caused by surgical or accidental scarring.
Services
The aim of my Sports Massage is to both optimise your performance as an athlete and to prevent, as well as treat, your sports related injuries.
Elite athletes look after their bodies with regular Soft Tissue Therapy treatments so why shouldn't you?
Having over 30 years' experience of sports performance and coaching with local, Reading, clubs in Triathlon and Swimming means that I understand the stresses that balancing your work, training and home life puts upon your body.
Regular massage has been shown to accelerate recovery after training by improving blood and nutrient flow to your muscles and reducing Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness.
As a Soft Tissue Therapist, I can treat your muscles, ligaments, tendons and connective fascia in order to remove your aches and pains and enhance your health and wellbeing.
This treatment helps to counter the effects of a modern lifestyle and is suitable for all of us who want to remain active and healthy.
After a short assessment, I will use a combination of deep tissue massage and assisted stretching techniques to release muscle tensions.
I may also give you some remedial exercises to do at home which will compliment your treatment.
If so, I can help using a number of light-touch Scarwork techniques either complimenting my Soft Tissue Therapy or as a stand alone treatment.
As wounds heal, the damaged tissue is replaced by a denser, stronger and less elastic SCAR.
In many cases this scar will restrict movement and create discomfort in the surrounding areas of the body.
Underneath the surface, scar tissue often attaches itself to other structures and organs and theses adhesions can cause ongoing problems that are unrelated to the original surgery or accident.
Anyone serious about their sport should consider Susan Martin STT as part of their preparation and recovery.
Her holistic, professional approach has helped me prepare and recover for every competition.
Thank you, Susan and keep up the great work.
Susan took great trouble to help my son's running related hip injury with massage.
She took the time to discuss the likely causes before treating him in order to find the best approach.
She also suggested some good exercises which would help with recovery.
Whilst it is well known that childhood participation in sports promotes physical and emotional wellbeing and can encourage a lifelong habit of exercise, too much activity at any age can lead to overuse injuries.
Because young athletes are still growing, they are at greater risk of injury than adults and the consequences of overdoing their.
The most common footballing injuries, not surprisingly, tend to affect your lower limbs.
From hips to feet, injuries from running, twisting, tackling and jumping are affecting athletes week in, week out, across the country.
